The most common distraction from peace is worry. Dwelling on what has happened or what might happen is a sure way not to find the moments of peace we are offered every day.
Watching the now is not a skill that is easy to cultivate, but it does have its rewards. To be aware in the moment first give the past and the future their space. By willingly giving time to remember and to plan a place in our day for these distractions we can relegate them from the now to their proper place.
With our concentration freed up we can focus on the now. We can be aware of our feelings in the moment and enjoy the peace that has been there all along.
